Lisa Johnston | firstname.lastname@example.org | Twitter: @aeternusphoto Michael Brown was unarmed when a Ferguson police officer shot and killed him Saturday, Aug. 9. Protest continued for the fifth night in front of the burned out QuickTrip market which has become the epicenter of frustration for the Ferguson community. Protesters honked their car horns as they drove up and down the street while many rode on the tops and hung out windows. MO Highway Patrol captain Ronald Johnson walked along the protest area with Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson. He was applauded for his courage by many who also thanked him for being there. The tone of protest changed significantly after the police safety presence was taken over by MO. State Police as requested by Gov. Jay Nixon. Local protesters were encouraged by the leadership of Missouri Highway Patrol Capt. Ron Johnson who has ties to the Ferguson area.
