James D'Amico, 88, walks down Wilson Avenue every morning and afternoon to and from St. Ambrose School, where he is a crossing guard at Wilson and Marconii avenues in the Hill neighborhood of South St. Louis. His hobbies are knitting and crocheting. "I can't count how many baby afghans I've made," he said. "I never got a plugged nickel for any of them because I didn't want any. A card was enough." D'Amico is one of several seniors profiled in today's Senior Living Section.
