Sister Anna Rose Kraus, CSJ is celebrating her 80th jubilee this year. She began her religious life at the age of 17 when she entered the Sisters of Saint Joseph Carondelet. The novitiate was made up of over 100 novices at that time. She was trained as a teacher at the St. Joseph Institue of the Deaf at a time when a new teaching technique was beginning. The teachers would teach orally to the students allowing the students to feel the sister's mouths and breath in order learn speech. ..Sister Anna Rose became the Superior at the School for the deaf and later went on to teach at Fontbonne and to the Carondelet Child Center in Chicago. Coming back to St. Louis she was the fundraiser for the Sisters to build Nazareth Living Center where she resides today.
