Lisa Johnston | email@example.com | Twitter: @aeternusphoto St. John Neumann Apartments is an affordable housing senior apartment complex operated by Cardinal Ritter Senior Services (CRSS), an agency of Catholic Charities and the Archdiocese of St. Louis. The Jennings apartment building is across the street from the command center set up by MO. Highway Patrol and St. Louis police during the Ferguson unrest. Cindy Asher is the manager of the building and is very protective of her residents. At night they have been closing up the blinds because the foot traffic, shouting, tire squealing and emergency sirens have been affecting the residents sense of peace. The staff, who have been challenged in getting to and from work, are doing their best to help the residents feel safe and keep their minds occupied. Sister Suzanne Wesley, CSJ said, "I can't say enough about our staff." She reported that we are here when fear overwhelms them and they just need to talk. Resident Mary Lois Love was comforted by Asher after hearing that she had not been feeling well. "I've been a little dizzy," she reported. Asher reminded her that she needs to let her know if she starts feeling too bad so they could get her to the doctor. The normal transportation for medical visits has been halted since last week when the services could not get to the building due to the protesting in the area.
